(Silver Screen! Monday! Magpeperform ang MedChoir classmates!)

Kumusta naman ang med so far? Hmmmm.

Now for the non-acad stuff.. ang masasabi ko lang.. it’s been one hell of a ride. haha!

I guess everybody in our class will agree that this sem’s purpose is mainly for adjustment. Whether it might be adjusting to Manila “breeze” (pollution), to living away from home, to not having contact with family, to doing things your own way.. change was there and we all had to deal with it. I think all of us were able to do this; iba iba lang ang style..

(Silver Screen! For the Ondoy victims!)

Some realizations:
– I’m lucky to have roommates like Glai and Mae. 🙂 Dami nilang dalang food e. Heheh.
– I’m not as energetic as before. Duh! Nakakatulog ako sa class eh. Boo. Although minsan kasalanan ng lecturer heheh.
– First impressions don’t count… a lot. Marami na kong nakilalang friends sa class na tingin ko sa simula never kong makakausap/never akong kakausapin. Buti naman! 🙂
– Affiliations shouldn’t count.. more so when class 2014 should come first. Friendships first, din.
– Don’t forget to nourish your spiritual life, na kailangang-kailangan para ma-neutralize ang katoxican ng med. This has put me back on track several times this sem.
– There’s no substitute for family. Sobrang na-miss ko sila this sem. 🙂
– There’s no substitute for home-cooked food. Oo na, ako na ang gutom. =)) After sampling almost all food establishments sa Rob, don’t you wish there was something more.. home-y?

(Silver Screen! Philamlife Theater, Monday night!)

More than adjustment, this sem was also all about self-discovery. Marami akong nagawa this sem na never kong naisip na magagawa ko. Wow.

(Silver Screeeeeen! 150 Pesos lang!)

Sa dami ng stressors sa buhay med, the best gift you can give yourself is gentleness.

If you fall, get up quickly, and learn from your mistake.

Forgive yourself and let yourself be happy.

If good things come, be grateful, and (still) learn from it.

As a future doctor, how can you heal others if you can’t heal your self, hindi ba?

Sikretong Malupit… Muna. n____n

Dear friends,

Good day! Before you hear it from some classmate, your buddy, an orgmate, or even Ate Cherry (?! what are the odds), I want to say it right here, right now, straight from me, para naman hindi kayo magulat, diba?

Thursday afternoon, just this week, I stopped by a certain hut in campus, and signed up for Mu Sigma Phi sorority.

*whoa!*

Minadali ko ba ang desisyon? Para sakin hindi. Matagal ko na siya inisip (no Mae, not during the last days of college, that’s too early! haha!) at sa tingin ko naman, I have enough reasons to join.

Hindi ko na sasabihin isa-isa ang mga dahilan, pero kung gusto mo talagang malaman, just ask me personally. 🙂

Will this decision have an effect on my existing relationships? Negatively, I hope it doesn’t.

The last thing I want to do is break bonds with people just because of their affiliations. That I find shallow.

For me, new friends are silver, but old friends are (hindi lang gold!!) platinum.. Sa totoo lang hindi platinum eh. Oxygen!

Go Bio!

Sa mga forever-mates ko sa class, I promise not to let this get in the way of class activities, lalo na pag groupwork and such. I am a med student, after all.

I love you all. 🙂

Margie

*seryosong sikretong malupit muna ha.*

PS. MedRhythmics training ulit sa Monday! Come let’s join us! HAHAHA

Just kidding.

Hahaha.

Una sa lahat, wala na kong GE (since last year pa ng 2nd sem) and PE ( since 2nd year) at PI 100 (summer), mga subjects na mahirap talagang hagilapin sa registration. Puro Bio subjects na lang. Buti na lang IB ang insti ko, napakaefficient mag enlist sayo, automatic, si sir F pa magkiclick click at may subjects ka na (Of course inayos na ni M’Roderos lahat yun even before mag-end ang previous sem).

The previous killer semester
(which turned out to be okay naman pala) with 18 units of 5 Bio subjects is now replaced with a sem with my remaining ten (yep, 10) units for BS Biology. Wow! Gally! Hahaha! Here’s my wonderful sked:

Schedule
Time Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
07:30 AM-08:30 AM     BIO 150 WFQ/WFRU   BIO 150 WFQ/WFRU
08:30 AM-11:30 AM     BIO 150 WFQ/WFRU   BIO 150 WFQ/WFRU
11:30 AM-02:30 PM
02:30 PM-04:00 PM     MS 102 WFX   MS 102 WFX
04:00 PM-06:00 PM
06:00 PM-07:00 PM         BIO 196 FO

Bio 150 (lec and lab, 4 units) is cell biology, Bio 196 is a 1-unit undergrad seminar course, and Bio 200 (no definite sched) is 2 units for undergrad thesis.

Akala ko magkakaproblema ako sa BSE kasi puno na ang 119 (Icthyology) and 117 (Vertebrate Taxonomy) at di ko pwede isabay ang 151 (Immunobiology) sa 150 at hindi ko talaga (as in ayaw na ayaw na ayaw) gusto mag Bio 132 (Animal Dev Bio) after all the horror stories ng previous class. Hahaha.

Hindi masyado field work. hahaha. 😛 (Clue! Something to do with Jopi’s very close girl friend).

Long long weekends, here I come (baka mapadalas ang punta ko ng Bicol).

Hehehe.

Ituloy ang tradisyon ng Fitness Friday, ah! For sure makakasama na ko. 🙂

Gosh! Transcript of records! Ganun ba talaga katagal yun iprocess?

Biglang andami ko na namang iniisip! Yay!

Chuva Chuva Chever Chever Borlalu Borlalu

I woke up at around 6.45, 15 minutes after I was supposed to leave home for my 7.30 class.

I arrived at IB at around 8.00, texted Jopi whether it still makes sense to enter the lec room (as ma’am usually dismisses early).
Jopi said ma’am gave the class cookies and juice for breakfast (yep, still happy over the exam results).
I didn’t go to class but I still got the cookie and juice (thanks Jop.) after eating tocino + fried rice for breakfast at Gloria’s.
Next class was ecology lab. We had a great time.
We formed groups, made and described an imaginary species and showed it to the rest of the class.
Our group created a deep-sea mammal named the Philippine Trench Frangler, Ezrapigyi philippinensis. It was very cute. 🙂
I took pictures of other species too. Haha. Chuva chuva chever chever borlalu borlalu was the imaginary call of Chuvanensis chever, a cute animal that eats fruits and flowers with a strict floral formula. Hahaha.
Of course all we did that lab class had a point, even the Nagaraya (=fish). Haha. The main points were: what makes species threatened and the problem with the Commons Principle.
Ecology lec was confusing, as always. Sir Dan discusses fast. He gave us the Bio-DAP assignment. Use the data from Makiling and play with Bio DAP.
My lunch was Beef Salpicao from Special Treats (aka. umbrella). Half rice. Take out. Same price as original.
Plant physio lab was just reporting. Seed germination as determined by light exposure and hormone activity. It was like a ‘softer’ version of Plant Dev Bio, my other class.
We were dismissed early, so JK, Erik, Dee, Scott, Jopi, and I decided to invade the afternoon ecology lab class to see what species they came up with.
Bekbekis manyakis made me laugh so hard. The Espi ranza too.
4.00 was the start of Fitness Friday. I brought my bike to the oval. Hehe. I didn’t want to jog.
JK,Dee, Jopi, Erik, and SCOTT jogged. 🙂 I biked. I took shortcuts when JK used the bike after me.
Good thing we finished right before the rain poured. Too bad Roni, Jenpey and Mae weren’t able to join us. 😦
Anyway, we spent our cool-down time hanging out at the IB steps. Marami naman kami.
Oh yeah, ABM recollection thingy din pala tonight.
I left IB at quarter to 7, walked to Balara, rode the jeep and went off at Tumana.
As usual, they were selling earrings again at the sidewalk (they always do). The cute ones. The cheap ones.
I looked and I bought a pair or two.
As I walked away and turned the corner I felt something empty in my pocket. Alas, my SE T650 was gone. Only the sleeve, useless now, remained.
Most probably someone took it while I was looking for earrings to buy.
This is the first time I got pickpocket-ed. I hope it will be the last.
I wonder if the pickpocket would laugh at my wallpaper in the phone. It was the photo I took of the Philippine Trench Frangler, all green and blue and cute.
I wonder if the money that pickpocket would get from selling my phone will solve his/her major problems.
I wonder if my mum and dad will get mad. I haven’t told them yet.
I’ll miss all the media stuff I saved using that phone. I loved it. Anyway, I shouldn’t be that attached anymore right? Haha. I don’t have it now anyway.
I was lucky to not have seen that pickpocket. I wouldn’t know what to do if I were held at gunpoint/knifepoint (?) whatever. I was lucky the laptop I had inside my bag was safe. So were my notes for next week’s exams.
What a day
[EDIT] okay, I told my parents already. They’re relieved i wasn’t hurt. My sister too, who came from Divi with my brother and bought SIX pairs of earrings for me. X.x

10 Most Memorable HERPeS Fieldwork Moments

(because I’m not good at making blow-by-blow accounts. haha.)
Aug 21-24 2008 Makiling Forest Reserve Bio 160 Off-Campus Fieldwork
Group: Herps (Herpetology: amphibians + reptiles)
Gameplan: Survey Makiling Frog Distribution and Abundance at Disturbed and Undisturbed Areas of the Makiling Botanic Garden
Team: Ako, Jopi, Bet, Joey, Hez, Egee, Mrose, Kacy

  1. MEETING, MEETING, MEETING. Oha. Supposedly, may gagawin na kami on Day 0 (the day of arrival) sa labas, kaso nakakatakot, so natigil.. Anyway, walang araw na lumampas na wala kaming meeting. Favorite room ang 212 (glai-jen-kacy-me) pero we evicted ourselves and went to 205 (jopi-jay-al-roj) nung nagpaprocess na ng data ang inverts sa room namin after our Day1 field (kagulat yun ah, biglang andaming tao sa room. haha)
Pinaakyat kami sa bahay niya (very steep road up from the bridge sa MBG) para lang samahan siyang magbihis. Tapos, nung nagpapatulong kaming maghanap ng sites for our survey, pinadaan pa kami sa matarik na muddy trail sa isang far far away place. Take note, lasing pa siya nung kinausap ni jopi ah. Buti na lang nireport namin kay mam. (Noli pala ang totoong pangalan niya.)
  3. ANONG NAP TIME?. Hehe. Kailangan ding picture-an ang frog specimens sa Museum of Natural History.
  4. FULL BATTLE GEAR. Transect lines? Check. Barbeque sticks na may masking tape para magmukhang flag? Check. Thermometer? Check. Sling psych? Check. Tubig? Check. Individual plastic bags with spec-tags inside? Check. Headlamps? Check. Specially made frog nets? Check. Boots? Check. Take out dinner from Kainan sa SU? Check check check. Pera pambayad sa entrance? Ah, eh.. Hahaha Let’s go!
  5. FIELDWORK SONGS c/o THE BOYS. Hindi yung “The Boys” per se, just the male division of our team – Bet, Joey, and Jopi. Making love, out of nothing at all.. making love, out of nothing at all.. I miss you like crazy, even more than words can say.. I miss you miss you mishoooo….WOOOOOOOW sweet child of miiiiiine…
  6. JOPI and EGEE’s PUTOSTUDIO. Sabi kasi ni ma’am, make very good pictures of the frogs we captured. Hehe. 1. Baliktarin ang palaka para makahiga. Hindi siya gagalaw. (Salamat Ma’am Joni!) 2. Kunin ang palaka sa plastic bag. 3. Ilipat ang palaka sa loob ng Gladlock bag, linisin para maganda at ipatong sa isang very nice green leaf for contrast. 4. Tadaaaah.
  7. INTRODUCE YOURSELF. NO WAY. INTRODUCE YOURSELF. OKAAAY. Haha! Solo kasi namin eh. Day 2 morning – pagkatapos ng super-late breakfast, pagka-photograph ng frogs, pagkanood ng Olympics, paghintay kina Mrose at Kacy na bumaba ng campus to buy food, pagkatapos ng super-late lunch (kami lang ata may ulam na chicken curry kasi inubusan na kami ng food.. bakit kaya), pagkatapos ng data input, at way before our next fieldwork… nanood kami ng movie sa laptop ni Bet (Bring It On: All or Nothing)! Haha. Natuwa ako kasi first time ko makanood ng Bring It On movie. Hehehe.
  8. ANG GLADLOCK AT PANGGUGULAT. Hehe. T-T Na-stress si Hez nung tumakbo siya from MBG to TREES tapos siya yung tinanong about the Gladlock. Peace tayo! Gu-bats. 🙂
  9. BUFO BUFO BUFO. One of the definitive moments of our fieldwork. Grabe. Uy, salamat kay Roger for holding the bag 🙂 It took tons of courage for him to hold that bag.
  10. KULITAN/BANGAG/HUH??? MOMENTS. Haynaku, too many to mention.
  • Go bats! Gu-bats!
  • Introduce yourself! Okay. – Ate Nicdye
  • Ang fantastic shadow show ni BetJoey
  • Grabe andaming Rysotta sa transect namin! Ewwww.- herps group –tapos biglang- Andami ng kare-kare no? – Hez Huuuuuuh?? HAHA
– Margie
  • Ano yan, toxics? – Roger (habang hawak ang Bufo bag).
  • Ang Processing Party after Day2’s fieldwork: may ice cream, softdrinks, Stax, at Magic Flakes. Whoohoo..

Great job, herpmates! Di pa tapos ang trabaho natin! May paper pa tayo! :))

Excited na ko! 😀
(Haha. I want to see my fellow batchmates na. 🙂 Huwaaaaw we are seniors na kasi and we’re supposed to be cool .)

Thoughts:

*Tanong. Second sem pa ba magsisimula ang application for med school? Hehe. Ignorante ako. 😀

Pleeeeeeease! Hehe.

Hmph.

kababawan naman..

may friend ako sa friendster na for some unknown reason dinelete ako sa listahan niya and i still don’t know why.

On Earth Hour

Yes we turned the lights off. 🙂 (And turned the TV off after they had their PBB fix. haha.) It was fun for me, but it could have been a lot more fun if the whole neighborhood (at least) joined in.

I’ve heard about Earth Hour. Didn’t they? Sa internet lang ba to kumalat? Eh nabalita nga sa 24 Oras eh.

Anyway, I’m just wondering. hehe.

How was your Earth Hour?
